About the Venture

‘Green Basics’ was started with a purpose of implementing integrated farming systems that enables sustainable agriculture at a large scale. Green Basics was initiated in Srikakulam in December, 2009 and the first prototype of packaged Agri Services implemented in Sompeta Village in June, 2010. It was registered as Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) under the AP Societies Act and Agri-Clinics and Agri-Business Center Scheme of Government of India. Green Basics promotes small scale farmer’s organisations with the help of different stake holders. Green Basics gave trainings, raised funds, helped in building capacities of these collectives. It planned to hand over the management of farming to local communities after 3 years of operation. In Goa, Green Basics has been successful in promoting cooperative societies in collaboration with National Corporate Social Responsibility Hub at Tata Institute of Social sciences, Mumbai and Goa Shipyard Limited. Green Basics puts higher weight to farming strategies, technical expertise, risk management, agricultural mechanization, and precision in visioning farm management solutions. Green Basics was engaged in agriculture extension services, cooperative farming and farm mechanization in 50 villages in Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh. He expanded operations to State of Goa in collaboration with Goa Shipyard Limited and founded four cooperative societies having 1500 families’ membership and reached more than 3500 tribal farmers.
