Sampurn(e)arth works towards providing a decentralized end-to-end waste-management solution with a stakeholders approach involving students/Citizen-groups/communities, Administration/ Management in each decentralized context, NGOs working in the field of waste-management and waste-pickers welfare. Citizen-community is essential in relaxing the entry barrier, increasing awareness, getting people involved. The NGOs/waste-picker associations are partnered to provide employment and a better working condition to waste-pickers. Sampurn(e)arth works in close collaboration with StreeMuktiSangathana, a reputed NGO in Mumbai. They have been working with women waste pickers and in waste management since 1999. About 3000 waste-pickers are associated with this NGO in form of waste-picker SHGs and co-operatives. The aim of the organization is to address the problem of the waste sustainably while also providing alternative source of employment to former waste-pickers through skill development. With this approach, the venture will persuade, eventually, to shift towards cleaner and healthier practices.
