To address the issue, it is focusing to build and develop the social capital among the community. Looking at the worst conditions and very limited resources available to the people of the community, it is trying to seek solution to their problems in their own community force through their shared cultural values, trust and knowledge. With the help of theses virtues, it wants to help people lead themselves to the goal of a better and empowered life.
Integrated Development Program is committed to improve the quality of life of the people of Saharia tribe through Social Capital Formation with the help of integration of education and livelihood activities. IDP is going to be implemented in 20 villages with 850 families in Baran District of Rajasthan.
IDP intends to address the problem by integrating education and livelihood activities. It works in two ways, by running Extension Learning Centres in two villages and by working with women Self Help Groups in 20 villages. It brings children and adults together at Extension Learning Centres where there is exchange of knowledge and experiences which develop a bond within them. IDP is also working on creating livelihood opportunities through production of Awla Products and Vermicompost, Pickles with their Self Help Groups.
In two years of implementation of program IDP has reached 1000 families. It has 50% potential SHGs with whom they have started production activities. Out of 90 children at Extension Learning Centres in two villages, 30 children have learnt reading books. Both child and their parents come together at Extension Learning Centre and participate in the activities.
