Prof. Satyajit Majumdar addressed a panel session on “From Classroom to Community: Academia’s Role in Advancing Social Enterprise”, moderated by Sauraveswar Sen, at ‘inCUbate’26’.
Prof. Majumdar shared the framework developed and deployed at Tata Institute of Social Sciences(TISS) at the Center for Social Entrepreneurship. The incubation centre, TISS INCUBE FOUNDATION plays a pivotal role in taking feasible solutions of societal problems, in the form of social enterprise, to the ground to develop business models. TISS INCUBE FOUNDATION also associates with marginalised groups and remote and difficult locations from across the country to support local entrepreneurial talents. ‘Technology for Society’ is our guiding principle. This approach not only creates livelihood and employment opportunities at remote locations but also uses local resources and strengthen local economy as a foundation for ‘sustainable development’. The Event ‘inCUbate’26’ was organised by RUSA 2.0 Entrepreneurship Hub and the Skill Development & Career Hub, Calcutta University, Kolkata (now known as University of Calcutta) under dynamic leadership of Prof Ena Ray Banerjee, Professor, Department of Zoology, University of Calcutta. It was aimed at fostering innovation, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial thinking among students.
